Connor Wright declares his candidacy for District 3 of the Bloomington City Council
Bloomington, Indiana – Conner Wright, a politically active undergraduate student and leader at Indiana University Bloomington, has filed to run for Bloomington City Council District III, where he now resides as a result of redistricting that took place last year.
District III has many amazing areas of Bloomington, including lovely parks like Griffy Lake, neighborhoods with a high concentration of students like Stadium Crossing, and fantastic establishments like Bruster’s Real Ice Cream.
the precincts of Bloomington 7, 8, 9, 10, 16, 21, 22, and 23 make up the district.
Conner intends to concentrate largely on addressing Bloomington’s escalating housing affordability crisis, enhancing citywide transportation options, including but not limited to public transportation, walking, and bicycling, and safeguarding the environment for future generations. When cycling and strolling around Bloomington and attempting to find an apartment to live in that won’t break the bank each year, he has witnessed the effects many of these issues have personally.
Having worked for the City of Fishers’ Planning and Zoning Department in 2021, he is also aware of the authority that local governments have to address these issues.
Conner has always shown a capacity for leadership and a desire to give back to his community. His accomplishment of his Eagle Scout Project at the neighborhood elementary school, which involved enhancing a nature center to improve educational opportunities for young children, was his proudest moment.
He has also given a lot of his time to volunteering for national, state, and local campaigns. Through his efforts, he has gotten to know many outstanding public officials who have fueled his ambition to make Bloomington the finest city it can be.
As soon as Conner entered the city limits, he fell in love with Bloomington. Whatever the occasion, Bloomington held a special place in his heart, whether it was dining at Mother Bear’s Pizza with his Boy Scout Troop during summer camp, attending an Indiana University sporting event, or hiking at Griffy Lake or many other nearby parks. Conner is thrilled to launch his candidacy for Bloomington City Council District III and is looking forward to what the city’s future holds.
