Crash investigation leads to drug arrest in Gas City
Gas City, Indiana – Following an investigation into a crash on I-69 on Wednesday night, Indiana State Police made a drug arrest.
Officers were called to a single-vehicle rollover collision on I-69 northbound close to mile marker 263 just after 11 p.m., according to a press release.
Upon their arrival, state troopers and Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies identified Maiazah Z. Wright, a 26-year-old resident of Gas City, Indiana. ISP reports that drug paraphernalia and about 87 tablets were also found by crash investigators.
According to ISP, the tablets weighed more than 10 grams and had a positive fentanyl field test.
Wright was taken for a medical examination from the scene of the collision. ISP claims that Wright was then taken into custody on charges of dealing in narcotics and possessing marijuana, paraphernalia, and narcotics.
The most serious accusation Wright is facing is dealing in narcotic drugs, which is a Level 2 Felony in Indiana. In the Hoosier State, a Level 2 Felony carries a maximum term of 30 years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
