Fort Wayne single-vehicle crash claimed a man’s life
Fort Wayne, Indiana – According to a news release from the Fort Wayne Police Department, a man lost his life in a single-vehicle collision on Friday morning.
Officers from Fort Wayne responded to a car accident involving injuries at the junction of Jefferson Boulevard and Amber Road on Friday at 8:50 a.m. Jefferson Boulevard is sometimes referred to as U.S. 24 and the Hoosier Heartland Highway.
According to preliminary reports, a car was driving west on Jefferson Boulevard when it started to collide with roadside construction barrels. When Jefferson Boulevard and Amber Road intersected, the driver lost control of the car. After losing control, the car veered off the road, overturned several times, and collided with a utility pole, releasing hanging live wires.
At this point, the cause of the driver’s loss of control is unknown to the investigators. An adult guy was identified as the driver.
After arriving on the scene, utility workers and the Fort Wayne Fire Department cut the power to the lines. At the site, paramedics declared the driver deceased. Until the area is cleared, Jefferson Boulevard is closed between Homestead Road and Amber Road.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office and the Fort Wayne Police Department are still looking into this event.
