Franciscan Health closes waiting areas at hospitals in the Indianapolis area

Indianapolis, Indiana – On Wednesday, Franciscan Health increased its visiting limits as the hospital network continued to deal with an increase in flu, COVID-19, and RSV cases.
Franciscan hospitals in Mooresville, Carmel, and Indianapolis don’t currently have any waiting areas open.
“Visitors should take this into consideration and plan accordingly,” Franciscan said.
The choice was made just one week after all hospitals in the Indianapolis area decided to impose new visitor limitations in an effort to stop the spread of the flu, COVID-19, and RSV.
On Monday, Community Health Network imposed a comparable mask requirement.
According to the state’s influenza dashboard, Indiana’s flu activity is “extremely high,” with more than 5,000 Hoosiers having gone to hospital ERs this week with flu-like illnesses.
Despite the fact that it is still early in the flu season, Indiana has so far reported 24 flu-related fatalities, including 13 last week.
The majority of flu-related deaths in Indiana have been people over 65, but the state’s first pediatric flu death was reported on Monday. The next flu report for the state is due on Friday.
