Lawrence County, Montana – Through the LCCF Open Grant Cycle in 2023, the Board of Directors of the Lawrence County Community Foundation granted Impact Grants totaling over $70,000 to eighteen neighborhood organizations. Five groups received Boost Grants totaling an additional $8,200. Boost Grants are for smaller projects or general assistance to an organization with a $2,000 ceiling.

Brent Maudlin, LCCF Grants Committee Chair, said, “This year, more so than past years, we had a long list of applicants with projects covering one end of the county to the other. The committee was very thoughtful and carefully considered every application. The grant requests surpassed the dollars available, and the committee had to make tough decisions. We know the projects awarded will impact many segments of the community and we’re thankful for all the volunteers that will use these grant dollars along with their hard work to grow our community one project at a time.”

LCCF also awarded three organizations Challenge Grants totaling $24,572. A challenge grant offers matching cash, assisting groups in spreading the word about their project objectives and raising money for their charitable endeavors. An organization receives a grant check once the required amount has been raised. The following groups received challenge grants:
The City of Mitchell for upgrades to Memorial Park’s basketball court. Mitchell will be awarded a grant of $10,472 once the challenge is completed to aid with funding this undertaking.

In order to accommodate their expanding membership, the Lawrence County Horse & Pony membership (Lawrence County 4-H Council) submitted an application for a grant to extend their warm-up facility. Once their task is accomplished, they will get a $6,500 grant.

An organization called Junior Stars, Inc. has just been established to encourage young football. When they complete their challenge, they will get a $7,600 stipend to buy football gear. Junior Stars overcame their obstacle and received their funding.
A volunteer board oversees the Lawrence County Community Foundation, a public charity whose goal is to raise the standard of living in Lawrence County for current and future generations. The Community Foundation collects and oversees monetary contributions from both individuals and companies contributed to long-term endowments, some of which provide funding for the annual award cycle.
