Hendricks Co. Sheriff’s deputy dies after being electrocuted at crash scene
Indianapolis, Indiana – A Hendricks County Sheriff’s deputy met his demise late on Monday night when he came into contact with fallen electrical lines at the site of an accident involving just one vehicle.
Deputy Fred Fislar’s death was confirmed by Hendricks County Sheriff Jack Sadler during a press conference early on Tuesday morning at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.
Around 11:50 p.m., according to Sheriff Sadler, the incident occurred just north of State Road 267 close to Plainfield. Sadler said that a witness saw Fislar down approximately five minutes later.
In critical condition, Deputy Fislar was taken to Eskenazi Hospital. Just before one in the morning, he was declared dead. His body was subsequently taken by police to the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
“This is a sad day for the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office,” Sadler said. “Our heart is broken.”
Fislar had spent two and a half years working for the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office. Two small children and his wife are his only survivors.
