Kokomo, Indiana – Strong winds on Friday afternoon caused damage to an elementary school in Kokomo.

An article on Facebook claimed that Taylor Elementary School’s roof was damaged by Friday’s storms. At this point, the damage was limited to the area of the building next to the school’s gym and did not affect other parts of the facility.

As per Kokomo Local 396’s Professional Firefighters, no injuries were recorded. The local fire department acknowledged that it had received many complaints on Friday about fallen power lines.

According to the school, there is currently no evidence that the incident resulted in any structural damage. However, in order to repair the water damage it had sustained, the school asked for assistance from a cleanup team.

The school announced that on Monday, primary kids would have a “waiver day,” staying at home while middle and high school students continued their regular sessions.

In the message, the school reaffirmed that it is reviewing its future actions in collaboration with a building company.

“As you have probably heard or seen, the strong winds from this afternoon’s storms have damaged the roof of our primary school, right next to our gym. It’s clear that this is having some effects on other areas of the building. The article states, “We are currently looking at what our next steps are by collaborating with a building business.
