Huntington County, Indiana – A man in Huntington County is being sought after on suspicion of killing his grandmother.

For a welfare check, deputies from the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home in the town of Markle in the 4100 block of E. County Road 300 South on Sunday night.

A 72-year-old woman, identified as Bernice D. Eubanks, was found by deputies inside the home deceased from apparent “sharp force injuries sustained as a result of an attack.”

Family members had apparently not heard from Eubanks for a few days, so deputies were sent to the house to see how she was doing. The woman was dead for a long time before her body was discovered, according to the HCSO.

The HCSO stated that it was concluded that her death was the consequence of a homicide. The inquiry into the death is still ongoing.

Anthony J. Castleman, 37, the grandson of the deceased mother, has been named by deputies as a suspect in the death inquiry.

In relation to a murder case, authorities are attempting to acquire an arrest warrant for Castleman. It is said that Castleman fled Huntington County and attempted to escape the state.

The Indiana State Police, the Huntington City Police Department, and the US Marshals are among the organizations actively looking for Castleman.

The public was advised by the sheriff’s office not to approach Castleman. It is recommended that anyone with information regarding Castleman’s whereabouts call ISP detective Matt Teusch at 260-356-2520 or 911.
