IMPD is handing out free backpacks and school supplies

Indianapolis, Indiana – On Saturday morning, students in Indianapolis will get free bags filled with school supplies from the Southwest District of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
The handout will be held at the Allison Transmission Innovation Center, located at 10th Street and Cossell Road in Speedway, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
According to the police, pupils in kindergarten through eighth grade are welcome to pick up free backpacks, but the child must be present to do so.
The distribution of the backpacks will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
