Indianapolis, Indiana – The male pedestrian who was murdered in a hit-and-run on Tuesday morning suffered trauma that has led the coroner to look for identification in dental or DNA data.

In the meantime, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is looking for assistance from the public in locating the vehicle that killed him.

A press release from the IMPD on Wednesday afternoon states that investigators are searching for a Dodge Charger 7th Generation vehicle manufactured between 2015 and 2023. According to IMPD, the vehicle has aftermarket trims and a spotlight.

A stock photo of a Dodge Charger was released by the police department on Wednesday, but it did not reveal how the investigators discovered the kind of vehicle that was used in the hit-and-run.

The male’s family has been located, according to a coroner’s office report on Wednesday afternoon; however, a positive identification is not expected until after dental or DNA comparisons are finished.

The hit-and-run was reported at the junction of Southeastern Avenue and Wildwood Drive at about 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday. That is close to Wildwood Park and the neighborhoods of Five Points and Wanamaker on the southeast side of Indianapolis.

On the scene of the hit-and-run, the man perished.

Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana was urged to get in touch with anyone who has information about the vehicle.
