In less than 10 minutes, 2 separate shootings resulted in at least 3 injuries

Indianapolis, Indiana – At least three people were hurt in two different gunshots that took place on the east and near northeast sides of the city within a 10-minute period, according to Indianapolis metro police.

On the city’s east side, at the junction of E. Washington Street and S. Euclid Avenue, IMPD was initially alerted at around 6 o’clock to a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and discovered two people inside a car that had been in an accident with gunshot wounds.

According to IMPD’s early investigation into the shooting, two suspects, who are believed to be adult men, opened fire on a car carrying three adult males and a kid at the crossroads.

“Someone that has absolutely no regard for human life,” IMPD Maj. Mike Leepper said on scene. “We’ll do everything in our power to hold them accountable for the actions they committed today.”

According to authorities, the victim’s driver started to try to avoid the gunfire and hit another uninvolved vehicle on Washington.

“Multiple rounds were fired into that vehicle,” Leepper said. “Then, the vehicle collided with another vehicle in a pretty devastating car accident.”

Both of the victims, two adult males, were transported to the hospital in good shape. According to police, neither the youngster nor one of the adult passengers were hurt.

“It’s only by the grace of God that the child wasn’t injured in this,” Leepper said.

Around 6:10 p.m., IMPD officers were called to the 3700 block of N. Tacoma Avenue for a person shot. This incident was the second. When they arrived, they discovered one gunshot victim in the vicinity of the intersection of E. 38th Street and N. Keystone Avenue on the neighborhood’s near northeast edge.

According to IMPD, the victim’s status is now rated as critical.

A fourth patient with gunshot wounds showed up at Community Hospital North at 6:50 o’clock. As of 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, IMPD verified that this is being looked at as a different occurrence from the other two shootings.
