Independent musicians compete for the final spot on the festival schedule at Chreece Last Shot
Indianapolis, Indiana – On Friday night, the organizers of an Indianapolis music event are trying to fill the final spot in the schedule.
Chreece Last Shot at the Indianapolis Artsgarden featuring five local hip-hop and R&B musicians.
They can compete to be a part of the entire Chreece Hip-Hop Festival on August 24 while showcasing their talent.
Jordan Dehart, a performer under the stage name “Dehart Muzix,” says he’s honored to be included this year.
DeHart described the event as “just really dope.” “It’s a pretty big platform that would be desired by all artists in the nap… that would look really good on your resume.”
Kalesha “JINX” Thomas feels the same way.
Thomas exclaimed, “I’m so excited.” “This is a great opportunity for local artists to expand their music and their opportunities, and I get to meet new fans.”
Rapper Caleb Newcomb, better known by his stage as “KingCaleb TheKey,” sees it as an opportunity to show people that everything is achievable.
Newcomb remarked, “I just want to be that voice for other people who don’t speak for themselves as well as me.” “Because when I was a child, I didn’t speak for myself.” That’s what motivated me.
Among Friday’s artists, inspiring others is a recurring subject.
After serving time in prison, William “Lil Billy” Gammon claims that music has given him the opportunity to start over.
Gammon declared, “(Music) is my second chance.” “I’m just thankful for the opportunity to just show off my talent and represent the impoverished communities around Indianapolis.”
Jet Santiago, the 2023 Chreece Last Shot winner, will serve as the competition judge this year.
According to the rapper, he would grade acts according to standards including crowd control and stage presence.
He continues by saying that both the competition and Chris really aided his career.
My readership has grown as a result, Santiago claimed. It was something I needed to do and something that was kind of on my bucket list. You must seize the opportunities that present themselves to you.
Chreece is a music festival that brings together independent music producers, DJs, and local and regional R&B, Rap, and Hip-hop acts.
It makes a comeback for the second year following the COVID-19 pandemic interruption. Artists will commandeer seven locations in the Fountain Square neighborhood this year.
Sean “Oreo” Jones, an Indianapolis rapper and the festival’s creator, claims that the event showcases a cultural trend in the city.
According to Jones, “Indy is the festival’s entire ethos and spirit.” Every year, the artists come here to hear their stories and meet new people; the beauty of it all changes. There are several voices and noises.
The festival’s two main acts are Atlanta’s Dem Franchize Boyz and New Orleans native Curren$y.
According to Chreece’s organizer Jay Brookinz, it’s a terrific opportunity to discover a new favorite act.
Brookinz advised, “Do some research and go check out some of the artists.” We have twelve hours of material, music, entertaining food, and local artists performing. It has a certain worth. It also has a strong Indianapolis vibe.
Although Chreece Last Shot is free to attend, individuals who wish to do so are asked to RSVP online by the organizers.
The Indianapolis Artsgarden will host the beats starting today at 8 p.m.
