Terre Haute, Indiana – On January 20, a group of Indiana lawmakers traveled to Washington to witness President-Elect Donald Trump take the oath of office for the second time, officially becoming the 47th president of the United States.

“Today marks a fresh chapter in America. Despite the cold temperatures outside, the excitement here in Washington and across the nation is incredibly high, signaling a new beginning as we turn the page.” We are committed to bringing back prosperity to America right here on our soil.

“We will examine the southern border and guarantee that our adversaries hold us in fear while our allies regard us with respect,” stated U.S. Representative Rudy Yakym from Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District.

“I feel a sense of excitement.” Today marks a significant moment for America as we welcome our new president, who is set to implement the promises made throughout the campaign trail.
Now is the moment to roll up our sleeves and accomplish the task at hand. The people back home certainly value that as well. “They expect us to roll up our sleeves and complete the task at hand,” stated U.S. Rep. Jim Baird, representing Indiana’s 4th Congressional District.

Representatives Yakym and Baird conveyed their enthusiasm regarding the proposed agenda for a second Trump administration, highlighting the executive orders that the president-elect intends to implement on his first day in office.

President Trump has made it clear that one of his initial commitments is to secure the southern border, a move he attributes to the current administration under President Biden. An open border policy was in place for four years, resulting in over nine million crossings. Individuals are crossing the southern border unlawfully, and President Trump has pledged to secure the southern border. “I am aware that several of his executive orders aim to achieve precisely that,” stated Rep. Yakym.

“He has mentioned over 200 executive orders, which is certainly noteworthy. However, the main focus will likely be on border security, and Tom Holman’s role in this will be crucial for the nation.” Rep. Baird stated, “By doing this, we will have the chance to effectively address the issues of inflation and energy that have been impacting us and make progress on those fronts.”

Donald Trump is set to be sworn in at Noon EST on January 20. The primary ceremony is set to occur in the Capitol Rotunda, having been relocated indoors because of the chilly weather conditions. The most recent instance of an indoor swearing-in occurred in 1985, during President Ronald Reagan’s second term commencement.
