Indianapolis, Indiana – John Schmitz has been nominated by the Indiana Republican Party for the 7th Congressional District.
Schmitz will now challenge Andre Carson for his position in the US House of Representatives in November, according to a Facebook post from the Indiana GOP. Since 2008, Carson has served as a U.S. Representative.
Previous reports state that Schmitz attempted to run for Indianapolis mayor in 2019. Schmitz was employed as a masonry contractor at the time.
The 7th Congressional District of Indiana, according to Congress.gov, is entirely contained within Marion County and extends as far north as 86th Street and as far south as Troy Avenue.
Tuesday, November 5th, is the date of the Indiana General Election. October 7 is the cutoff date for voter registration for this year’s election.
