Indianapolis, Indiana – There will be the first L.L. Bean store in Central Indiana.

The outdoor business with its headquarters in Maine announced that it will open its doors in the fall of 2024 at Rivers Edge, an East 82nd Street shopping center. This year, four new L.L. Bean locations are set to open.

A new facility opened in Ulster, New York, in May. Two more locations—in Enfield, Connecticut, and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania—are scheduled to open in fall 2024 alongside the Indianapolis location.

According to a press statement from L.L. Bean, the openings represent the company’s “continued dedication to brick-and-mortar retail” as part of its broader strategy.

“As we continue to expand our retail footprint beyond New England, we are eager to strengthen our connection with customers and communities across the country, enabling more people to experience the restorative power of time outside,” said Greg Elder, chief retail officer for L.L. Bean.

The business intends to grow even more in 2019 with an emphasis on the Midwest and Southeast. Additionally, L.L. Bean is putting $50 million into a “reimagining” of its famous flagship store in Freeport, Maine, which it claims is the second-most popular tourist attraction in the state.

Founded in Maine in 1912, L.L. Bean is well-known for its durable outdoor and recreational goods. It is well-known for its “legendary customer service” and generous return policy, which was modified in 2018. The chain has 19 states and 57 locations.

Later this summer, the retailer will start hiring for full- and part-time roles. There are currently store manager and assistant store manager roles available in Indianapolis, according to its employment page.
