Indianapolis, Indiana – “The Duel,” a feature-length film, will have its world debut on Sunday following a red carpet at the Hilbert Circle Theater on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. Hollywood is making its way to Circle City with this red carpet event.

The film was created by Bloomington-based Pigasus Pictures. Pigasus was developed by Indiana University alumni Zach Spicer and Gordon Strain.

Filming was place at six various locations throughout Indianapolis, Blue Spring Caverns Park near Bedford, and Washington Park Beach in Michigan City, among other locations throughout the state of Indiana.

According to Strain, they were able to include various places that weren’t in the original script while still making several decisions that complemented their vision for the film.

“The writers wrote in things like a whiskey bar. I took them to the Inferno Room down in Fountain Square and they’re like, it’s a tiki bar now. There were some adjustments made to locations we had availability to.”

“The Duel” stars Dylan Sprouse, best known for his role as Zack in “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” and Callan McAuliffe, who played Aiden in “The Walking Dead.”

In addition, Sprouse is the film’s executive producer. Spicer claims it has maybe the most star power of all the films they have made. “It’s a who’s who of people that you may know or are soon to know. María Gabriela de Faría, she is about to be the lead in the new ‘Superman’ movie that comes out next year. She’s one of the lead, bad guys in it, and she’s incredible. The whole cast is. … We were really fortunate.”

The film centers on two buddies who go out to combat each other, portrayed by McAuliffe and Sprouse.
Despite being filmed in Indiana, the story is set in Mexico and southern California.

“We live here. We love to film here,” Strain said. “Anything we can do to show our state off and do cool things, even though the movie takes place in California and Mexico, we thought we could fake it here.”

“The Duel” is the seventh-feature film of Pigasus. It was founded in 2014.

During the early stages of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, the film was written and filmed.
Spicer expresses his excitement for the film’s debut, saying it’s been a long process. “This was really exciting. This is the first film of this size that has gotten to this magnitude where we been able to sell it to Lionsgate,” an entertainment company.

Tickets were still available for the premiere as of Friday morning. There were still tickets left for a Newfields VIP after-party.

Around six o’clock on Sunday night, the actors and staff will be trotting down the red carpet. At 7:30 p.m., “The Duel” has its international debut. “The Duel” can be seen in about 500 other theaters across the country starting July 31.
