A hit-and-run on I-69 in Fort Wayne claimed the life of a semi driver
Fort Wayne, Indiana – According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, a semitruck driver was murdered in a hit-and-run on I-69 in Fort Wayne on Thursday.
Deputies from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department were called to the 319-mile marker of I-69 northbound in Fort Wayne at 2:38 a.m. on Thursday in response to a complaint of a damaged semitruck on the side of the road and a body lying in the middle of the road. When medics and deputies came, they discovered a man on the highway.
At the scene, the individual was pronounced deceased.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office identified the man on Friday as Brad Anthony Nacio, 48, of Indianapolis.
The Allen County coroner reports that numerous blunt impact injuries from a motor vehicle accidents are the cause of death and accident is the mode of death. With Nacio’s passing, Allen County will have 20 motor vehicle fatalities by the year 2024.
The driver of the disabled semi on the side of the road, according to investigators, is Nacio.
Vehicle parts from a different semi that deputies suspect was involved in this event were discovered. A red or maroon Volvo semitruck with damage to the front passenger side and a missing side mirror is being sought for by investigators.
Anyone with information about this event is asked to call the Allen County Sheriff’s Department at 260-449-3000, according to the investigators.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and Allen County Coroner’s Office are still looking into this event.
