Bloomington, Indiana – Jobless Hoosiers will continue to receive the extra $300 federal weekly payments following the latest court decision.

Not only that people will continue to receive weekly federal benefits for the upcoming period, but they can also request retroactive payment for all weeks since the benefits were stops last month. According to the state, each claimant must go to their account and fill out their voucher from oldest to newest in order to claim the additional federal unemployment benefits.

Indiana Department of Workforce Development officials on Friday said that around 120,000 people will continue to receive the federal weekly benefits.

Initially, the state cut the benefits in June but jobless Hoosiers filed a lawsuit against the state regarding the decision. Late June Marion County judge ordered the state to continue with the payment and the state appealed the decision. However, a state court of appeals judge confirmed the initial decision and ruled that the state must comply with the Marion County judge decision until the court makes a final decision on the lawsuit.

Gov. Eric Holcomb cut the benefits earlier than their due date in September in an effort to help local businesses with the workers shortage.
