Man killed in tragic collision on U.S. 31
Westfield, Indiana – After a deadly collision involving two automobiles on U.S. 31 northbound early on Sunday morning, a man has passed away.
A white Dodge RAM and a black Toyota RAV4 were involved in a two-vehicle collision at the 161st Street bridge over U.S. 31 in Westfield. Westfield police officers were called to the scene around 7 a.m.
According to WPD, a preliminary examination has shown that the Dodge RAM collided with the 161st Street bridge’s east embankment. The adult male driver of the Dodge RAM, who was the only passenger, was declared dead at the site.
All of U.S. 31’s northbound lanes were shut down due to the accident for a number of hours.
According to WPD, no one inside the Toyota RAV4 was hurt in the collision. However, the number of occupants in the car at the time of the collision was not confirmed by WPD.
Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
