Massive damage is caused by severe storms in Johnson County

Greenwood, Indiana – On Sunday night, severe weather resulted in damage in the vicinity of Greenwood, Bargersville, and Whiteland.
According to the fire department, string winds in Bargersville damaged at least 75 homes. There is a three-mile span of devastation, according to local officials.
After conducting an initial search, Chief Eric Funkhouser of the Bargersville Community Fire Department reported that no injuries occurred during this storm.
The storm caused damage to a house in Greenwood, which is just the other side of the line from Bargersville. Joel McCall, the homeowner, claimed that when the tornado struck and tore the roof off of their home, he was inside with his son.
It was horrible. Although I’ve experienced close calls with tornadoes, McCall claimed that he had never experienced anything as close to this. “It was terrible, especially with everything, and my son was shouting go to the basement and my dog was in the room running down the stairs. I wasn’t sure what was happening because of the wind, the glass, and his yelling.
At the Greenwood Middle School, 1584 Averitt Road, Greenwood, IN 46143, the Red Cross is providing refuge.
Bargersville will review the need for the curfew as the days go by. It is in place from 9 p.m. Sunday night to 6 a.m. Monday.
