Indianapolis, Indiana – The Indiana State Fairgrounds welcomes back classic vehicles as Mecum Auctions kicks off its second Indianapolis show of 2023.

The Indy Fall Special at Mecum opened on Thursday. The exhibition, which runs through Saturday, will feature over 1,000 vintage and collector cars up for auction.

This year marks the inaugural event of the well-known auto consignment company hosting two events in Indianapolis concurrently. Mecum expanded upon the success of its spring event by adding the fall show.

According to CEO of Mecum Auctions Dave Magers, the Indiana Farmers’ Coliseum served as a dependable location for their events because they outgrew their usual facilities in Schaumburg, Illinois.

“The staff here at the fairgrounds, Governor Holcomb, have been so good to us,” Mageres said. “Indiana is a business-friendly environment and we’re excited to continue to build our events here in Indianapolis.”

The starting bid for the automobiles is $100. Online, over-the-phone and in-person bids are all accepted.

Not only do vehicles being auctioned off, though. Other iconic objects like neon signs, a refurbished ice cream cart, and even a carnival ride will be considered for the Fall Special.

According to Magers, the majority of visitors only come to peruse the offerings.

“We bill ourselves as the collector car auction company for everybody,” Mager said. “It really doesn’t matter what make, what model, what color, how big your pocketbook is. It’s probably here someplace.”

The auctions begin at 10 a.m., with doors opening at 8 a.m.

Online or in-person, admission is $30. Children under the age of twelve enter free of charge.
