Meta plans to develop a data center campus in southern Indiana for $800 million
Jeffersonville, Indiana – A large technology business intends to create hundreds of jobs for Indianaans by breaking ground on a $800 million data center facility in southern Indiana.
Executives of Meta Platforms Inc. will be constructing a new $800 million data center campus in Jeffersonville, which will support 100 operating jobs and hundreds of construction jobs in the upcoming years, according to a Thursday announcement from the Office of Governor Eric Holcomb.
Furthermore, during the height of construction, the company plans to sustain around 1,250 jobs.
The company Meta, which powers Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Messenger, will open a nearly 700,000-square-foot facility in the River Ridge Commerce Center. The center will be the business’s 22nd location worldwide and its 18th in the United States.
According to the statement, the center will assist in bringing Meta technology and services to billions of people worldwide.
This month, work on Meta will begin, with completion anticipated in 2026.
As stated in the press release, the Jeffersonville Data Center will run entirely on renewable energy, and when it’s up and running, the campus will be certified LEED Gold.
