North Carolina Central defeats Norfolk State in the Indianapolis Circle City Classic
Indianapolis, Indiana – In the Circle City Classic at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, North Carolina Central defeated Norfolk State 37–10 behind four touchdown throws from Walker Harris.
Ever since 1984, two historically Black colleges and universities have fielded teams in the annual Circle City Classic.
In the opening game of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for both teams, Harris completed 19 of 25 passes for 245 yards. Markell Quick, who finished with 124 yards receiving, including a 63-yard pass to start the scoring midway through the first quarter, caught two of his touchdown passes.
On 11 carries, J’Mari Taylor gained 86 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles (3-2, 1-0).
The Spartans (2-4, 0-1) were unable to muster much offensive momentum. Jalen Daniels gained 63 yards from rushes and 85 yards from passes.
