One man critically injured after being shot by police, Indianapolis east side
Indianapolis, Indiana – One man was shot by police officers Monday morning after charging at them with a knife in Indianapolis east site.
According to police announcement, officers were dispatched to the first block of South Colorado Avenue around 5 a.m. following 911 call in regards of domestic violence. Just before they arrived at the scene, officers were informed that a man is threatening a woman with a knife.
Just when police arrived at the scene, they could hear the man shouting at the apartment. The man then went outside and threated the officers with the knife.
That’s the moment when two officers fired their weapons and the man was shot at lease once. Police didn’t provide details where the man was shot.
According to Indianapolis Metro Police Department public information officer William Young, the man was transferred in hospital in critical condition. The latest news from the hospital suggest that the suspect is still in critical condition.
One officer was also shot in the incident, after a bullet struck his bulletproof vest as a result of crossfire from another IMPD officer. He suffered minor injuries.
