Organization honors those who were wrongfully convicted
Carmel, Indiana – The Center for Justice and Post-Exoneration Assistance at Purdue University Northwest benefited from a fundraiser held on Saturday by the Lucas Estate and Emma’s House.
The CJPA was founded in 2022 to assist people who have been unfairly convicted of a crime. Eddie Gill, a broadcaster for the Indiana Pacers on television and radio, serves as the chair of the advisory board.
“Unlock Hope: Be the Key to Change” was the name of the event.
A number of people were recognized for their contributions to social justice, such as former Colts defensive back Marlin Jackson and attorney Kathleen Zellner, who helped release prisoners who had been unfairly convicted.
DeWayne Dunn, who was falsely convicted of murder in Elkhart County in 2011 and later exonerated, is among the other awardees.
