Police arrest a suspect in a fatal double shooting at an east side gas station
Indianapolis, Indiana – A guy has been arrested in connection with a weekend shooting at a service station and grocery market that killed two people.
Martice McGee, 20, was arrested on two preliminary murder charges. He is suspected of killing Jaquareous Rashawn Tyreik Mitchell, 26, and Jimmy Jermaine Thomas Jr., 29.
Saturday, just before 5:30 p.m., a shooting occurred inside Emerson Food Mart on North Emerson Avenue. According to authorities, Mitchell died at the scene, while Thomas was rushed to IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition. He died as a result of his injuries.
Investigators interviewed numerous witnesses and determined that no store personnel were engaged in the event. After reviewing security footage, they identified McGee as the culprit.
He was apprehended by police on Wednesday. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final decision on charges.
