Political signs stolen from yard in Sheridan

Sheridan, Indiana – After taking political posters from a Sheridan yard, a suspect has been taken into custody.
The Sheridan Police Department said in a press statement that police were notified at approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday that a theft had taken place at a house on Mule Barn Road. The stolen goods were referred to by SPD as “yard signs supporting an upcoming political topic.”
The theft victim reported to the police that they had observed several signs removed from their yard over time. The victim additionally mentioned that one of the signs that was taken from their yard had a tracking device attached to it.
Police were directed to a residence in Sheridan by the GPS device. After obtaining a warrant, officers searched the house.
A suspect was taken into custody and charged with a crime following the execution of the warrant.
“It is recommended that you take proactive measures to safeguard and deter property theft,” SPD stated in its press release. “The assistance this citizen gave allowed officers to finish an investigation quickly.”
Neither the suspect’s name nor the charges against them were disclosed by SPD.
