Representative from Indiana invites people to attend the IBLC town hall series
Lawrence, Indiana – The Indiana General Assembly’s 2024 legislative session saw the passage of several laws. To learn more about these laws, the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus, or IBLC, is holding several town hall meetings around the state.
Legislators intend to analyze the last session and establish priorities for the upcoming one in collaboration with the community.
Lawrence will have its first town hall of the year this Saturday. More details regarding the town hall were provided on Saturday morning by Indiana House District 2 representative, state representative Earl Harris Jr.
“It’s really an opportunity for us as the IBLC to talk about legislation that passed during this session,” Harris said. “We’ll also get into some legislation that didn’t pass, but we know it will come back, it also gives us an opportunity to get some feedback from our constituents.”
Hoosiers have the opportunity to offer comments and suggestions on how lawmakers should proceed during these town halls. Harris adds, “Hoosiers are Hoosiers.”
“Everyone is invited, it doesn’t matter race, gender, creed, political party, we want everybody there,” said Harris. “Everything we do has an impact on how you live every day, so we really want people to get engaged.”
The town hall on Saturday is being held at the Government Center-Public Assembly Room, which is situated at 9001 E 59th Street, Lawrence, IN 46216, from noon to two p.m.
