Tenant reports that landlord puts a gun to their head and demands payment
Indianapolis, Indiana – Following reports that he had threatened to kill tenants who were behind on their rent, an Indianapolis landlord was charged.
Jeffrey Salazar faced the following accusations:
• two counts of armed robbery, a Level 3 Felony
• one count of kidnapping, a Level 3 Felony
Court records state that the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called to the 1800 block of Howard St. on February 3 at around 3:14 a.m. in response to an unanswered 911 call from that address.
Dispatched informed police that the caller’s landlord was holding a gun to his head and demanding money for rent while they were on their way to the area. When an officer arrived, it was established that Salazar had been holding two male residents at gunpoint and demanding rent money.
Salazar even went so far as to drag a man to the Speedway gas station while brandishing a revolver and had him get his share of the rent out of the ATM. There was $400 for his share of the rent.
One of the victims told detectives in an interview that Salazar threatened to kill them at gunpoint and used profanity to say, “I’ll will kill you right now.”
Later, once Salazar’s car was searched by a search warrant, a 9mm handgun was found and taken.
