The construction of new industrial facilities for Eli Lilly and Company is progressing
Indianapolis, Indiana – This weekend is going to be huge in Boone County because on Saturday, work on the $3.7 billion facilities owned by Eli Lilly and Company in the LEAP Lebanon Innovation and Research District will begin with a significant concrete pour.
The operation takes around 16 hours and 600 concrete trucks to finish, so the concrete pour started at 1 a.m. and will go on all day.
In the history of the business, this is the biggest manufacturing investment made at a single location. It’s anticipated that the project would create 700 new jobs.
The Lilly facilities will serve as the LEAP Lebanon Innovation and Research District’s main hub in a few years. The goal is to have an influence on citizens both domestically and abroad.
“As a company, we make medicine which is a very impactful job and we hope to bring new innovative medicines and existing medicines to impact patients around the world,” said Hugh Kelly, the associate VP of Eli Lilly and Company.
According to officials, the construction of the facilities will create up to 3,000 additional construction employment in Boone County as work progresses. By 2026, everything is supposed to be fully operational.
