The Crothersville Parks Department received a $15,000 grant
Crothersville, Indiana – The Community Foundation of Jackson County recently granted a $15,000 Fall Grant to the Crothersville Department of Parks and Recreation. Next summer, Countryside Park will have a Picnic Shelter and Day Camp thanks to the grant and Cerrowire’s assistance.
The grant was supported by foundation monies from the Immanuel United Church of Christ Vernon Township Community Fund, the Carl and Doris Kovener Endowment, the Jackson County Community Endowment, and the Jackson County Unrestricted Endowment.
In addition to offering a week-long summer day camp to incoming fourth and fifth graders at Countryside Park, plans are currently underway to construct a 20-by-24-by-9-foot picnic shelter with a drinking fountain, lighting, and electrical service. Exercise, disc golf, naturalist-led walks, cuisine, team-building, and art classes will all be available at the camp. Next spring, juniors and seniors in Crothersville will be given the opportunity to work as camp counselors.
Call the town at 812 793-2311 if you would like to join a camp steering committee. Here are some things to think about: Members must be able to pass a background check and be willing to volunteer for at least two full days at the camp.
From December until June, monthly planning sessions are held. Exercise, disc golf, nature, health, nutrition, cuisine, and the arts are among the necessary skill sets.
Riders in an amusement park are shown in the video being trapped horizontally for hours.
In addition to trying to create a yearly, sustainable program, the steering committee will need to raise money for the camp.
Funding donations are welcome from companies and individuals who would like to support the day camp. A camp T-shirt will be made for campers, counselors, and adult volunteers who donate $100 or more. Donations can be made at the Crothersville Town Hall, located at 111 E. Howard St.
