The side effects of the Covid-19 vaccine to young people, what is the next move
Bloomington, Indiana – Following the approval earlier, many teenagers aged 12 and more are now being fully vaccinated against Covid-19. But the relatively high number of confirmed side effects of the vaccine to young people is warning sign for scientists.
According to latest data, at least 300 cases of heart inflammation was reported in young people aged 30 or less. The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention will meet on Friday to discuss the matter and make future recommendations.
“All the physicians and scientists are amazed at the massive amounts of data points we have and the incredibly small numbers of side effects and adverse reactions,” Dr. Elaine Cox with Riley Hospital for Children said.
But experts think we should not expect any ‘astonishing’ conclusion from the meeting on Friday.
“Never, ever have we had any clinical trial with hundreds of millions of doses of vaccine. There’s no way clinical trials can reach those numbers and with COVID we have hundreds of millions of people who have been vaccinated. We have huge amounts of data points that show the risk from the vaccine is minimal,” Cox said.
As these side effects continue to stir up the public, latest reports show decreasing trend in vaccination interest in several states. There are states that are seeing increase in new positive cases lately due to new more contagious Covid-19 variants. Medical experts urge people to vaccinate as that is the best option to fight the virus for now.
