This week, the Circle City Classic gets underway in Indianapolis

Indianapolis, Indiana – The Circle City Classic, one of the most thrilling events of the year, with thousands of attendees from all over the nation gathered in downtown Indianapolis.
The Miss Circle City Classic pageant was held on Sunday to kick off the Circle City Classic celebrations, which continue through Saturday, September 23.
The Circle City Classic football game is scheduled for Saturday, as well as a pep rally, Talent Day Career Fair, and Circle City Classic Praise and Worship on Wednesday.
The event is a fantastic way to educate young people to the passion, energy, and traditions of Historic Black Colleges and Universities, according to Ed Rogers, director of events for Indiana Black Expo.
“Circle City Classic is one of our biggest fundraisers with Indiana Black Expo. We put this on to support scholarships throughout the community but also as a way to expose youth and others who don’t live in the South to the HBCU culture and let them see that there’s so much tradition when it comes to HBCUs in our country,” Rogers said.
The Mississippi Valley State University and North Carolina Central University football game, which is part of the Circle City Classic, will draw a large crowd to Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday.
After the 2019 Circle City Classic, the game’s organizers took a step back to redesign the event, making this the first football game in a number of years.
“Football is back. That’s been our motto that we’ve been preaching this whole time since we announced our big game,” Rogers said. “This game is going to be our 39th game. We still have tickets on sale, so we would love this community to come out and support the game. It’s going to be fun.”
Prior to the big game, fans can join the Circle City Classic Parade and check out the Divine Nine Greek Stroll Competition afterwards.
The Circle City Classic raises funds for scholarships. More than $5 million has already been given to children in Indiana.
On September 23, the event will take place in collaboration with InnoPower LLC (InnoPower Indy).
