Wanamaker restaurant is for sale; if the current owners are unable to find a buyer, the business may close
Wanamaker, Indiana – The proprietor of a Wanamaker restaurant has decided to sell it.
Wheatley’s is for sale, based on a Facebook post from the company. The restaurant Wheatley’s, at 8902 Southeastern Ave., will close on September 29 if the existing ownership group is unable to find a buyer.
The owner of Wheatley’s said that one of the reasons the restaurant is for sale is the aged facility it currently occupies. Other concerns that prompted Wheatley’s ownership to sell the restaurant included aging and inefficient equipment, increased food prices, and growing utility bills.
Additionally, Wheatley’s ownership stated in a Facebook post that a considerable drop in revenue has been caused by the “ever-changing eating habits of the community.” The owners of the eatery said that it was losing money every month.
Owner Kevin Stone stated on Facebook that, “quite frankly, the business needs a substantial investment to not only survive, but to take it to the next level—a level that I believe is possible with the right person because this community, again, needs a restaurant like Wheatley’s.”
Wheatley’s was hit by an automobile earlier this year. According to earlier reports, the building’s structural integrity sustained major damage as a result of the collision.
The proprietors of Wheatley’s urged patrons to stay put while the eatery is up for sale in a Facebook post.
“On Facebook, I would like to express my gratitude to the community for their support over the past 14 months, especially to the many devoted customers who come in sometimes several times a week,” Stone wrote. Serving people in this special community of Wanamaker has been a privilege, and I shall miss visiting with them, sharing ideas and stories, and even just saying hello or wishing them a happy day.
“In closing, I would like to express my gratitude to the staff; they have made the experience enjoyable, even though it has been an interesting one to say the least. I have enjoyed working with each and every one of them.”
