Allen’s counsel formally seek that the judge be taken out of the trial
Indianapolis, Indiana – Richard Allen’s lawyers are asking the special judge in the Delphi double homicide case to recuse herself from the trial.
Judge Frances Gulle was asked to “recuse herself” or step down in the formal request, which was submitted on Monday morning.
Gulle, according to Allen’s defense team, ordered them off the case and otherwise showed bias against them.
Earlier this month, the Indiana Supreme Court restored Allen’s original legal team. Allen’s attorneys claim that Gulle’s “ruling and actions” raise doubts about her ability to stay impartial for the duration of the trial.
Allen is charged with killing Libby German and Abby Williams in Delphi in February 2017.
