Colts player helps kids hit the links for the holidays
Indianapolis, Indiana – Jake Martin, a player for the Indianapolis Colts, is teaching neighborhood kids how to golf at the Boys and Girls Club.
On Tuesday, the defensive end hosted a holiday golf outing at the far-east Finish Line Club. With the assistance of Golf Galaxy, Martin guided the teenagers through a variety of golf drills and activities.
In a press release, organizers said, “All of these efforts come as a part of Jacob’s larger mission to help bridge the diversity gap within the sport of golf.”
The kids attending the event don’t regularly have the chance to play golf, so Martin wanted to introduce them to the game, according to the organizers.
“I just want them to know that it’s okay to live and to think and believe and have lofty dreams. You never know. If this is a doorway for someone to get into sports or get into golf, I’m happy that I was able to help,” Martin said during the golf outing.
In addition, gift cards and a bag of sweets were provided to each teenager so they could keep playing golf. Martin attended his first Christmas gathering as an Indianapolis Colts player—a golf outing.
