Bloomington, Indiana – On Thursday night, Indiana University issued a warning to students and staff informing them that there was an “armed person” on campus.
According to IU, the individual was seen in the vicinity of 1200 N. Eagleson, close to a number of Greek homes.
“If you are on campus, trust your instincts and take safe shelter in the nearest available room,” the university initially warned at 7:24 p.m.. “Lock doors if possible and remain in place until you receive a final IU Notify update or law enforcement gives you other instructions. Call 911 if you have information about the armed person. If you are not on campus, stay away. Follow instructions from university officials or local authorities. More information will follow shortly.”
A few minutes later, IU released an update noting that police are seeking for three people, including a male wearing a red sweater and two girls, who are suspected of using a firearm to intimidate someone. According to reports, they escaped Eagleson in a gray Ford Fusion.
The Indiana University Police Department announced that a search of the area had been finished and that regular operations may resume at 8:23 p.m.
“Stay cautious of your surroundings,” the university added, “Call 911 with info on suspects or suspect vehicle.”
