Not able to see your TV? Perhaps due to a rare “sun outage”
Indianapolis, Indiana – Do you need help watching the game on your TV?
Fortunately, it’s not because the bill is past due this time. The real culprit is Mother Nature.
Most likely, viewers are taking in a unique phenomenon known as a “sun outage.”
A sun outage is defined as an, “interruption in satellite signals caused by interference from solar radiation,” according to telecommunications infrastructure company, MIDTEL. “The interference is caused when the sun is in direct line with a communication satellite and the sun’s radiation overwhelms the satellite signal.”
The worst thing is that since the outage is a naturally occurring occurrence, no one or anything can control it.
The anticipated period of the solar outage is October 4–October 14.
