Utility problems in the City of Bloomington Eight homes are under a precautionary boil water advisory

Bloomington, Indiana – Crews from the City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) were called in on Sunday, October 7, 2023, to fix a broken water main on Browncliff Lane. Until 12 p.m. on Monday, October 9, a precautionary boil water advisory is in effect for 25 addresses, unless otherwise advised. Details & addresses at 812-339-1444 or bloomington.in.gov/utilities.

When the water main’s pressure falls below 20 psi, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) mandates that all public water utilities issue a precautionary boil water advisory. The following steps should be taken by anyone who are impacted:

• immediately after your normal water pressure is restored, run COLD water from a sink or tub until clear water flows from the faucet.

• Boil all water used for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene for at least 5 minutes prior to consumption.

• It is not necessary to boil water for other uses. Customers who have signed up for the Monroe County Alert will be alerted directly. Alternatively, CBU customers may refer to the CBU website at bloomington.in.go. Wutilities for a list of specific addresses affected. This tool enables CBU and other government offices to quickly provide you with critical information, including tornado warnings and advisories about road closures, missing persons, and evacuations specific to the addresses you register or the county as a whole.
