Ryan Walters is named the new football coach at Purdue
West Lafayette, Indiana – The name of Purdue University’s next head football coach has been released.
The team will have Ryan Walters as its next head coach.
Walters, 36, most recently served as the University of Illinois’ defensive coordinator for the 2021–2022 seasons.
Prior to that, he served in a variety of capacities at the University of Missouri from 2015 to 20.
In his four years as a safety at the University of Colorado from 2004 to 2008, Walters earned All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention.
“I am incredibly humbled and honored to serve as the head football coach at Purdue University,” Walters said in a statement. “I am grateful to Director of Athletics Mike Bobinski and to President Daniels for this incredible opportunity. Purdue is a world-class university, and our football program will pursue the same excellence exhibited across our campus. My wife Tara and I, along with our boys, are beyond excited to join the Purdue and West Lafayette communities. Boiler Up!”
Jeff Brohm, who is departing to join the University of Louisville, is replaced by Walters.
