Hamilton County, Indiana – A heating system breakdown in two of the kennels at the Humane Society for Hamilton County has prompted the organization to look for foster homes for dogs.

With temperatures in the single digits and wind chills in the negative teens, the heating problems have surfaced. Eleven canines that are more likely to be exposed to excessive cold cannot be adequately warmed by the facility due to the heating failure.

According to Lily Darling, a community engagement manager at the shelter, “This is a dire situation.” “The security and welfare of the pets under our care are our top priorities.

There is an emergency because of the heat loss in these 11 kennels. Fostering a dog, even for a few nights, not only benefits the animal but also frees up space for us to relocate pets to secure warm environments.

The shelter also stated that by offering a foster home, they will have enough time to manage their resources throughout the emergency and find a solution to the heating problems.

Foster home providers will receive the food and resources they require from the shelter.
