Bloomington Woman Jumps from Bridge at Third Street

(BLOOMINGTON) – A 37-year-old homeless woman jumped off the I-69/State Road 37 overpass at Third Street in Bloomington on Monday evening during an apparent suicide attempt.
According to the Bloomington Police, officers were called to the scene around 7 p.m. after receiving a report of a woman sitting on the wall of the overpass with her legs hanging over the side. She was facing the northbound land of traffic.
When police arrived they found that the woman had jumped from the overpass and landed in the northbound lane. The woman was conscious and alert but broke her leg, hip, and shoulder.
Police say the woman was not struck by any vehicles during the incident.
She was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment and then held for a medical evaluation.
