Marion County has places open for disposing of Christmas trees
Indianapolis, Indiana – Is it time to get rid of your Christmas tree? Beginning on Monday, residents in Marion County will be able to dispose of their real Christmas trees at seven designated locations.
For the 2023–2024 holiday season, Marion County officials are urging residents to dispose of genuine Christmas trees at one of the city’s seven drop-off sites.
• Ellenberger Park: 5301 E. St. Clair St., northeast corner by the pool
• Garfield Park: 2432 Conservatory Dr., in front of the MacAllister Amphitheater
• Northwestway Park: 5253 W. 62nd St., to the left of the entrance
• Perry Park: 451 E. Stop 11 Rd., to the left of the Stop 11 main entrance
• Riverside Park: 2420 E. Riverside Dr., by the basketball court
• Sahm Park: 6801 E. 91st St., near the recycling bins
• Riverwood Park: 7201 Crittenden Avenue
Tree stands and other decorations, including lights, tinsel, and ornaments, have to be taken down early, according to the Department of Public Works. GreenCycle mulches the trees into different soil mixtures.
Residents of Marion County can drop off their trees at one of the locations until January 31. You can drop off trees anytime between dawn and dusk.
According to the city website, “Dropping off trees at locations not listed below is considered illegal dumping and is punishable by fines of up to $3,000. Please check the list carefully as included parks can change from year to year.”
The DPW further stated that this service is exclusively available to Marion County individuals and is not intended for business usage.
