Nonprofit asks legislators in Indiana to assist older foster children
Indianapolis, Indiana – The main focus of extensive efforts at the Statehouse to persuade Indiana lawmakers to enact a new law was legislation assisting older foster children.
Numerous teenagers and young adults discussed their foster care experiences in Indiana. The aim, according to organizers with the statewide group Foster Success, is to inform legislators about the issues that are sometimes overlooked.
“People often think about younger kids when they talk about foster care, and they don’t necessarily think about those individuals that turn 18 and what their journey looks like after that,” stated Maggie Stevens, president and chief executive officer of Foster Success.
According to the organizers, the purpose of the gathering on Tuesday was to teach foster youngsters how they may influence in addition to educating lawmakers.
