Former employee of the Howard County jail was arrested for narcotics trafficking while incarcerated
Kokomo, Indiana – Investigators claim that a former jail staffer and a prisoner at the Howard County jail were trafficking drugs into the facility, leading to their arrest.
According to a statement released by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, officers started looking into drug trafficking at the Howard County Criminal Justice Center sometime in late November.
They discovered during their inquiry that Branagan Reece, a 24-year-old Kokomo resident and former jail staffer, was a suspect. Before the drug trafficking probe, she had been fired.
Reece and 27-year-old Justin Mundy, a prisoner, were taken into custody on Monday due to their involvement in human trafficking.
Reece and Mundy are both charged with a crime of engaging in inmate trafficking. An additional charge of official misconduct is being brought against Reece. As of Tuesday morning, Reece was not recorded as an inmate at the Howard County jail where they were being detained.
If you have any information regarding the trafficking, please call 765-614-3473 to speak with Det. Will Cline or Det. Jacob Gibson.
