(BLOOMINGTON) – Two men were arrested Wednesday afternoon after Bloomington Police officers were alerted about a fight with one of the men being hit by the other with a baseball bat.
The incident happened around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Second Street and Walnut Street.
According to a news release, both men involved were homeless.
58-year-old Otis Pye was arrested on a charge of battery with a deadly weapon, and 61-year-old Robert Abraham was arrested for battery and resisting law enforcement.
When police arrived on the scene they found Pye holding a metal baseball bat and yelling at Abraham.
Officers ordered Pye to drop the bat and he initially refused but he eventually complied.
While an officer was handcuffing Pye, Abraham charged toward the officer.
Officers wrestled Abraham to the ground and placed him under arrest.
Officers noticed a cut that was bleeding on the back of Abraham’s head from being hit with the baseball bat.
Abraham was taken to a local hospital for treatment. After being treated he was taken to jail.
